I had a wonderful time!

Man, you know I had no plans to post any of my base art, since most of them are just fun little things I do for my RP account Fujioka-Yoko-chan, but I spent so much time on this and I was so happy with the result that I thought I might as well show it off on a place where people will actually see it XDDDDD

So this is for a “contest” of sorts that Midnyte-Wolff is having for pairing her second generation OC Odin with someone!! She gave us this www.deviantart.com/art/Beyblad… base to use, but I used this one instead (link at the bottom) because the other half of the base didn’t really fit little Natsumi, who I’m thinking is probably just a little younger than Odin is. Admittedly I think this is a hetero base that I’m using here as well, but Odin is so young that it doesn’t really matter that the base was flat XDD (The two of them are close enough in size in this base that I thought it fit better).

Jesus though…I love you Midnyte, honestly I do, you’re like a sister to me, but there was no way in hell I was drawing this from scratch. Even just using a base this took…30+ hours actually wouldn’t even be that big of an exaggeration, I think. XDD

Really this was just an excuse to try out my new “painting” style of coloring, though…so what do you guys think???

Ahhhhhh so much love for their bangs, I spent crazy amounts of time on them, especially Odin’s, and I thinks hers definitely turned out the best! I highlighted it with light yellow and purple, which was just kind of a little joke, and then I actually ended up keeping them! XD (Her eyes turned out super nice as well. It’s no different from my usual style, I just like blue a lot and the shades look very pretty and crystal-like together XDD)

The pony/pigtails are a complete disaster, though. The bangs look pleasant because I always find really nice hair tutorials that exclusively use the bangs as references. I guess they just assume that you can just copy the skills you learned and paste them onto the other parts of the hair, so either I just have a really weird style or I’m just really bad at this XDDD.

And my god, coloring skin isn’t just a battle for me anymore, it’s an all-out war. Definitely looks nowhere perfect the way it is now…but I’ll experiment some more, I guess? I have no idea where to start, though, so it’ll probably take a while for me to actually do anything XDDDDD

I actually like Odin’s face quite a bit, though, especially in the nose part; a little too shiny perhaps, but it makes it kind of cute as well XD

JESUS DO NOT EVEN START ME ON WRINKLES AND CLOTHES-RELATED THINGS THOUGH. No fucks are given. *flips all the tables*

Odin’s dress is obviously a complete disaster, but Nastumi’s I’m at least a little happier with? Shading the polka-dots along with the folds was another tiny little experiment I decided to try out, and another one that I’m really happy with. Unfortunately I did sort of a sloppy job and then couldn’t find any way to fix it, but it’s…better than nothing, I guess??

The ribbon was an experiment as well as the black side of the Odin’s dress in the same sort of “razor” style, and I really liked the way it came out on both!

Rwhitwjf and big, big big thanks to K-chan619 for getting my binary tool working again, I did a lot of the coloring on this in individual pixels so that I wouldn’t go over the line (which is what makes my lineart look to distorted)

LOLOLOLOL and if anyone actually noticed, Natsumi’s dress is shorter in this picture because she’s standing on her tippy-toes to give Odin that kiss, so her dress is hiking up a bit XDD (Isn’t this kid so cute?! *hugs plushie*)
